Vail is the largest single-mountain ski resort in Colorado, known for its extensive Back Bowls terrain (Sun Down, Sun Up, China, Siberia, Tea Cup, Inner/Outer Mongolia) in addition to front-side groomed terrain. It opened in 1962 and anchors the town of Vail on Interstate 70.

No reversible tram or cable car exists at Vail — both lifts named “gondola” (Gondola One, Eagle Bahn) are continuously-circulating systems.
