Furano is a resort in central Hokkaido with two connected zones (Furano Zone and Kitanomine Zone) and, unusually for the region, a genuine reversible aerial tramway (Furano Ropeway) alongside its gondola and chairlifts. It has hosted Alpine and snowboarding World Cup events and is positioned as a quieter, more local alternative to Niseko.

What the sources say
Every note below is drawn from the resort's own or an independent official publication.
All piste-km, altitude and lift-count figures come from a single reachable source (official site pages 404'd repeatedly this session) — flagged rather than presented as fully two-source verified.
No separate "red" difficulty category is published; piste_km_red left null.
World Cup history and "first ski-host/guide system in Japan" claims are single-sourced marketing-site statements, not independently corroborated.
