Crans-Montana is a sunny, south-facing plateau resort above the Rhône Valley in Valais, combining the twin villages of Crans and Montana with the linked Aminona and Plaine Morte sectors. It is known for wide, groomed intermediate terrain, the Piste Nationale World Cup downhill run, and access to the glaciated Plaine Morte plateau via a funitel.
There is currently no true reversible cable car in the ski area — two historic ones (1969 and 1968) were decommissioned in 1995 and 2009 and replaced by circulating lifts. Access lifts today are gondolas, a funitel, chairlifts, and a funicular from the valley town of Sierre.
