Chamonix's ski domain is NOT one interconnected resort but 5 largely separate ski areas (Les Houches/Saint-Gervais, Le Brévent-La Flégère, Les Grands Montets/Argentière, Domaine de Balme-Vallorcine, plus beginner areas). The official site (en.chamonix.com) lists these areas individually and does NOT publish one combined total piste-km or lift-count figure for the whole valley.
Because no official combined total exists, and third-party aggregators disagree sharply with each other (onthesnow.co.uk reports 169 km / 82 lifts; bergfex.com reports 124 km / 6 lifts for the same 'Chamonix Mont-Blanc' area — an implausible internal inconsistency), piste_km_total and lifts_count are left null rather than picking one unverified number.
Base altitude 1035 m and highest lift-served skiable point ~3275 m (Grands Montets/Point de Vue) are consistent between the official site (en.chamonix.com/things-to-see-and-do/altitudes-and-lifts, stating the ski areas span '1035 m to 3300 m') and Wikipedia/aggregator data.
Do not confuse the ski area summit with the Aiguille du Midi cable car (3842 m) — that lift accesses the Vallée Blanche off-piste glacier descent, not a marked/groomed piste network, so it is excluded from altitude_summit_m.
Nearest town: Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is itself the town/commune, so nearest_town is left null (not applicable) rather than naming a different settlement.
Exact passenger capacity for Aiguille du Midi cable car, Brévent cable car, Flégère gondola, Montenvers train, and Tramway du Mont-Blanc not published on the official site or found via search; left null rather than estimating.
Panoramic Mont-Blanc (Vallée Blanche) cable car capacity (4 passengers/cabin, ~220 pax/hour) is corroborated by engineering-reference sources (Structurae-style, Wikipedia/Grokipedia entries on the Vallée Blanche Cable Car), not stated directly on chamonix.com.
Grands Montets capacity figures (10-seat first section, 24-seat 3S second section) come from ski-industry/lift-engineering reporting (skiresort.info, Doppelmayr-related coverage), not the operator's own marketing pages; treated the two-section system as one notable headline lift.
Could not verify any night skiing on a Chamonix piste from official or independent tourism sources; omitted rather than guess.
Tourist office direct email address is not published; the office uses a contact form on en.chamonix.com/contact instead.
The Chamonix valley has several satellite tourist office desks (Les Houches, Argentière, Vallorcine, Servoz) each with its own phone number; the number given here is for the main Chamonix office.
